Welcome to our latest set of workshops and events. We have some really exciting themes and genres for you and some truly amazing models.
Our photography workshops and shoots are designed to help photographers of all levels to explore and to learn techniques and styles of photography that they might never have the chance to do on their own.
Michael creates and leads every single event using his professional experience of over 18 years to create shoots that will fascinate and help you learn more about creative photography.
His ethos is to educate, entertain and inspire. Michael’s passion and enthusiasm is always the driving force for the academy and his aim is to fill you with that same love for photography.
His workshops are fun, informative and a great place to meet people. They also have limited places so that everyone gets good shoot and learning time.
So if you want to improve your photography skills and try out new, exciting styles and techniques this may be the perfect place to start.
If you want to create something cool and unique for your portfolio then you might want to come to this workshop. Combining chiseled good looks, deep set eyes, charisma and the athletic prowess of a Kung Fu monkey, James Green is not your average model.
James is a Freerunner and we will be utilising his unique skill set to dramatic effect. Think cool man in a suit doing acrobatic leaps and poses – a more elegant version of Daniel Craig’s James Bond, if you will.
Our backdrop will be the older and more photogenic parts of Nottingham. The brief will be to create high end, dramatic looking images. Think expensive fragrance images and classic Hollywood film stills.
Michael will of course be on hand to advise, instruct and help – although stuntman tuition costs extra 😉
This will be a full day event with the opportunity to head back to the studio for advice on shot selection and post-production. Book early to take advantage of the Early Bird Price. Places are strictly limited.
Date: 17/08/17
Venue: Nottingham City Centre/ML Studio
Time: 9am-5pm
Cost: Early Bird Price £95.00
Cost after 04/08/17: £175.00
The first rule in creating striking portraits is to find a striking model. Anasofie, as you can see, is a mighty fine example of such a model. In this workshop you will learn how to get the most from this super quirky young lady with tips on lighting, poses and wardrobe as well as advice on how to approach such a shoot. This workshop will cover quirky but cool looking portraiture, fashion photography and will touch on hair and beauty aspects too.
Even more than that it will give you the opportunity to work with the force of nature that is Anasofie Moxon which guarantees you images the like of which you will not have created before!
Anasofie is as colourful as she appears – You Have Been Warned!!!

The Powder Paint workshop is an old favourite that we haven’t done for a few years. And this time because we can use our Urbex area, we won’t trash our studio – Yay! The concept behind this one is to basically use powder paint to create balletic patterns and swirls and to capture these frozen moments in a powerful and aesthetic way. It’s very experimental but some of the images can be amazing when you get it just right.
The models for these workshops are always dancers as we combine the powder’s patterns and colours with dramatic movement and form.
This one is always fun – and the best bit is you don’t even have to help clean up!

You’ve seen one art nude shoot, you’ve seen them all – right? Wrong. We like to offer you opportunities that you won’t find anywhere else. Michael has always been fascinated by Japanese culture and photography, and one of his earliest influences is a photographer called Hideki Fujii who created some iconic art nude images.
The Japanese consider the colours black, white and red to be ‘erotic’ and this is used in their interpretation of art nude photography. We will discuss and work with the make-up, lighting, poses, and ‘feel’ of this unusual and beautiful photographic genre.
We are fortunate to have as our model the mercurial Kirin Watanabe (pictured) who both looks the part and, because of her cultural background, can give us the authenticity that will make the images we create extra special.

There is so much on TV about this era now, no wonder as the styling is so interesting and dramatic. We will be working with character model Richard Burgess to re-create this look in the heart of Nottingham. Richard comes with full, authentic costumes (although obviously we can’t take replica weapons into the city centre). Seeing all his clothes and props is like going back in time. We will be working through the evening and as the ambient light drops we can create even more dramatic effects using portable strobe lighting. This one will be fun and we will be creating some very interesting images.
