So if you’ve ever wondered what actually happens on a full on fashion shoot then taking a look at these photos will give you a bit of an idea. As you can see it takes quite a bit more than just a photographer and a model…
For this shoot the team consisted of 2 models, a hair stylist, a make up artist, a fashion stylist, 2 photography assistants, a hair stylist assistant, a fashion stylist assistant, the client. And me.
Starting by getting the models into hair and make up for 8am it usually takes around 2 hours prep before we can actually start shooting. This gives me time to set up the lighting and take enough caffeine to get me functioning.
We needed to create 10 different shots during the day which included the front cover and the article itself which is an 8 page spread featuring the main double page spread. This is a lot of work when you factor in the logistics and anything that might not go according to plan. That’s when a trusted creative team becomes worth it’s weight in gold.
So whenever you see the credits for any shoot and only the photographer is mentioned, spare a thought for the team behind him/her.
We can’t do it without them.
